The “human” element in academia is the staff and faculty, as well as the students. As such, human resources take a different twist than in regular businesses. Often committees make decisions, with budgets and union contracts often playing a role in overall policy and process making.
When we decided to delve into the world of academia, we did so with the goal of learning and understanding the cultural and procedural differences of academia compared to the business world. We started out servicing internal staff, and over the years we grew to offer services for the student body as well. In doing so, we were able to create new services, or adjust our current services, to best serve the special needs of academia.
