Advice Regarding Workplace Sexual Harassment - myHR Partner

Written by Tina Hamilton | Jan 10, 2018 5:00:00 AM

myHR Partner® President Tina Hamilton, PHR, has written a fantastic article for Lehigh Valley Business called “5 things to do in 2018 to lessen risk of sexual harassment,” and it is full of great advice for employers that they can use right now to better protect their organizations. These are action items that she says need to be done now, as 2018 begins and the issue of workplace sexual harassment is a big focus in the media.

From the article:

Of course, addressing sexual harassment is important all of the time, but it’s especially so in the existing national climate – with explosive allegations hitting the national and regional media almost daily, perhaps triggered by last fall’s high-profile case of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

But it’s not just a Hollywood issue. Sexual harassment and assault accusations affect businesses of all sizes, all across America.

Hamilton’s top five tips include:

  • Train all levels of staff—including executive
  • Specifically train managers on how to handle reports of harassment
  • Make sure your trained staff have the tools they need to implement what they have learned
  • Push back on the important stuff
  • Update your handbook
