Employee Appreciation Ideas: Encourage Employee Feedback

In this post, however, we want to give kudos to Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for really taking steps that are meaningful to both their workforce and their company culture. According to a recent profile of the business in The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rivers Casino was named one of the city’s top workplaces two years in a row precisely because of the steps the company takes to make its employees feel appreciated and heard.

Promoting a work-life balance is an important part of their success formula. Rivers Casino also offers raffles, achievement rewards and free massages as ways to say thank you to their team members. These efforts are even more thoughtful when you consider that this business is open 24/7, with employee shifts that cover nights, holidays and weekends. According to The Post-Gazette, the casino has been able to keep 10 percent more of its employees than the Department of Labor Statistics’ average for the casino, hospitality and entertainment industry, which is seen as an indication that these employee appreciation measures are having a positive impact.

Employees who feel heard also feel more appreciated and satisfied.

One thing that really caught our eye in the newspaper profile was the casino’s regular practice of encouraging feedback through dialogue and employee surveys — something we know quite a bit about.
